The Southern Region of Papua New Guinea (PNG) is a region which has multiple different diving destinations to some of the best that these clear, warm waters have to offer. The main destinations from which divers can access these many enthralling dive sites are Loloata Island accessed from Port Moresby, Tufi, Milne Bay, Fergusson Island and Normanby Island. What all of these destinations have in common is a wide variety of types of diving that can be done, all in warm water diving conditions with temperatures ranging between 22°C and 31°C, and water temperatures ranging between 27°C and 29°C. Divers are able to dive here year round . The visibility here is above average with often reaching 30 meters and above. Diving here is possible by either getting in touch with some of the local dive centres and dive resorts, which will often take divers out on day trip boats. Another option for diving here is taking a liveaboard. Visibility is typically excellent, often exceeding 30 meters, thanks to the region's clean and clear waters.

Diving is possible year-round, but the best conditions are usually from May to November, when the southeast trade winds are mild, minimizing surface chop and currents. During the wet season, from December to April, divers might experience stronger winds and currents, which can affect visibility and access to certain dive sites.
