Mwana Wa Mwana (★4.4)

Mwana Wa Mwana is a favorite local dive site. Depth ranges from 2m to 15m. The name of this site means baby of the baby in Swahili. Mwana wa Mwana is a small island north of Tumbatu; in low tide, the two islands are connected by a sandbank.

Nudibranch City (★4.3)

Nudibranch City is named for its inundation of several different types of nudibranchs. The reef is a 300-metre swim off Utende Beach and lies around 9 metres deep. Here there is an abundance of soft corals and fantastic anemones.

This dive site is formed by a coral drop off that starts at 15 meters deep. For this reason divers should be at least advanced certified to dive here. Follow the reef to find two big formations of Turbinaria full of amazingly active fish life.

Mikadini (★4.5)

Mikadini is a gently sloping fringing reef that cascades down to 25 metres with many brightly colored corals. Mikadini often has a nice current, making for a very exciting drift dive.

Bawe Island - North (★4.2)

The island Bawe is just off the coast of Stone Town, and it is our go-to reef. Bawe North is a really nice continuous coral wall teeming with life.

Coral Garden (★4.3)

A nice coral drop off that, from the surface, goes to 15 meters maximum depth. On the bottom there is a long sandy plateau. Good spot for beginner levels and training.

Shane’s (★4.3)

Shane’s is one of the most special reefs to locals in this area. It always surprises with weird, rare marine life. This is a must dive for photographers and macro lovers! Depth ranges between 6 to 25 meters.

Jina Wall (★4.6)

Lying at the northern tip of Jina Island, ranging in depth from 8 to 26 metres is Jina Wall. At the base of a small, vertical wall that has shallow caverns and overhangs, this site bottoms out in a gravel field.

Tom’s Garden (★4.4)

A must do for macro enthusiasts, this site has a depth of 7 metres but can be extended if one wants to rear off the beaten track into the sand dunes. This dive site was named after one of our Instructor’s who stumbled upon this seahorse heaven by chance.

Leon’s Wall (★4.2)

Leon’s Wall is a beautiful unspoiled reef, covered with soft corals and sponges with depths ranging from 12-40 meters. You can avoid the crowds at this dive site, while you enjoy all kinds of marine life.

A sloping reef running parallel to the northeast coast from 10 meters. A big variety of hard and soft coral with a big section of plate coral. The visibility is almost always good.

Nyumba Ya Casa (★4.0)

This is a fun dive site as it is considered the house for the turtles. It also has a pinnacle covered in soft sponges.

Chekechea (★4.5)

Chekechea in Swahili means ’Kindergarten.’ This site is named Chekechea because it acts as a nursery for juvenile species. It is a very shallow dive site that is excellent for nervous beginners, photographers who want strong natural light, and any diver looking for muck diving encounters with rare critters.

This dive starts on a big seagrass area in shallow water. It is possible to reach the deeper depths following the coral formations. You many big tube sponges at this site.
