Cargo Armato

★★★★☆ (389)

The wreck, mistakenly called Cargo Armato, was actually a former ocean-going fishing vessel, built in 1926 in France. It lies at a depth of 26 to 36 meters. Its 64 meters long, 10 meters wide and 6 meters high. In 1942 it was commandeered by the Germans in Marseille to be converted into a submarine destroyer.

The bow remains the best-preserved part of the ship, where a large slot allows easy penetration of the wreck. The interior compartments provide an ideal den for conger eels and lobsters.
