The Kaatatiala quarry is located in Kuortane Lentilä, near the border of Alavus and Kuortane. In 1942-1968, feldspar and quartz were taken from the open pit. According to Kaatiala, the first Kaatiaite mineral found in the world was named in the quarry.
After the end of quarrying, there are still gemstones in the garbage dumps today and something interesting for collectors to find.
