Ojamo Mine

Ojamo lime mine is situated 60 kilometers west of Helsinki. The mine area is part of the city of Lohja, known for its industry. The mining operations were started in the 18th century. Ojamo mine has been dived for almost 40 years.More information: Ojamon kaivossukeltajat

Some fishes are seen there as quarry is connected to lake Lohja. Pearch and pikes are seen quite often in shallow open water close to the lake but not on tunnels.

The ship lies at a depth of 23 meters on the port side, the upper deck of the wreck is reached at a depth of 15 meters. She is located in the middle of Rödhamnsfjärden about 20 minutes by boat from the harbor.

The Nederland was a Dutch barge that sank in 1917 on its journey from Hanko to Holland, loaded with paving stones from Russia. Caskelot is a sailing ship that sank in 1970. The wrecks are connected by a line.

S/S Hindenburg was a German icebreaker of the Imperial Navy. On the morning of March 9, 1918, Hindenburg led a convoy of German cruisers. Shortly after setting sail from Kärringsund in Eckerö, the calm was broken by a powerful explosion. The ship stopped, a frozen floating mine had blown a large hole in the bow.

The Kisko open pit is located in Salo, about a 1.5-hour drive from Helsinki. The rail is a great place to practice ice diving and we will use this of course if you need to do exercises on the 18m deeper side, but don’t really need any mega deep.

Hilloisten Louhos (★4.1)

This quarry is an old granite quarry that is still within the production area, therefore access to the site is only granted through a dive club or the company. The booms are locked and diving is only allowed on weekdays starting at 3pm and on weekends). Great for all kinds of training, with max depth of 19m.

Järppilän louhos (★3.3)

Järppilä quarry is a disused granite quarry. The open pit in question has been filled with water and is a popular diving destination where diving is allowed. The site is behind a locked boom and local diving clubs and organizations have the keys to it.

Korven Louhos (★3.9)

This dive site is a quarry in the middle of a production area with access only through partners of the quarry like local clubs and dive centers. Access is only allowed on weekends, outside working hours! There is a locked boom when it is closed. The max depth is less than 30m.

Iso-Tiilijärvi (★4.6)

The dive site in the lake Tiilijärvi is about 15 minutes drive from the center of Lahti. You should leave your car in the parking area at the top of the beach.Do not drive to the beach, as this area is a recreation area for walkers, cyclists.

A dive site for the new diver that allows easy access to the water and some marine life. Beautiful area to use when getting ready for the dive. Some small marine life as well.

TGL-ranta/Kaukajärvi (★3.7)

TGL beach above old Kangasalantie just after Tamglass is an easy dive site. You can dive to 18m. The site is easy to reach from the sandy beach.

Kärkistensilta (★3.8)

A popular destination near the bridge, which is the second longes bridge in Finland after the Raippaloto bridge. A rocky, steep beach with visibility typical of Päijänte.

Hälvälä Louhos (★3.0)

This dive site is an abandoned quarry that is now filled with freshwater. One end of the quarry is shallow and suitable for recreational divers. Whereas the other side is only for technical divers. The quarry depth starts at 5 meters and goes more than 200 meters deep!

A clear-water freshwater pond with excellent visibility. Depth about ten meters. A forest road leads to the shore, although it is not on the map.

Kaatialan Luohos (★3.9)

The Kaatatiala quarry is located in Kuortane Lentilä, near the border of Alavus and Kuortane. In 1942-1968, feldspar and quartz were taken from the open pit. According to Kaatiala, the first Kaatiaite mineral found in the world was named in the quarry.

This is a great dive site for all types of diving from beginner to cave diver. There are two quarries here connected by a 120 meter long tunnel. The open water area has a maximum depth of 30 meters. The side tunnel is 25 meters deep.

Kassakaappimonttu (★3.2)

The Safe Monument is named after the discovery of a burglarized fire safe. The visibility varies between 5m and 8m depending on earthmoving activity in the area. Perch and at least one pike have been found on the north bank.
