South Steps / Water Treatment Plant
Water Purification Plant Mae in Sunabe, Chatan, Okinawa, is a beach-entry site with a 10m-deep drainage outlet (“UFO”) and water outlet (“temple”) that act as fish reefs. Colorful soft coral gardens host gobies, clownfish, and many small fish, making it a lively dive spot.
In front of the water plant, barracuda and crucian carp roam reefs, soft corals host bear clams and sparrows, and sandy areas shelter gobies and diverse life.
