SSI Scuba Skills Update: Refresh Your Diving Confidence Has it been a while since your last dive? The SSI Scuba Skills Update is the perfect way to brush up on your knowledge and get back in the water with confidence. Whether you’ve had a short break or several years away, this session ensures you are comfortable, safe, and prepared for your next underwater adventure. How it Works eLearning at Home: Before the pool session, you’ll complete the SSI digital training. This provides a comprehensive review of diving theory, safety rules, and equipment handling to ensure your knowledge is up to date. Pool Session at BCP Dolphin Leisure Centre: Head to the pool to get hands-on with the gear again. Under the guidance of an SSI Professional, you’ll practice key skills and regain your buoyancy control in a safe, controlled environment. Your Experience Timeline This session is designed to be flexible, focusing on the areas where you need the most practice. The total session time is approximately 2.5 to 3 hours: 1-Hour Briefing: We’ll review dive theory, walk through equipment assembly, and discuss the specific skills you’d like to focus on. 60–90 Minutes on Scuba: Spend ample time in the pool practicing essential skills like mask clearing, regulator recovery, and buoyancy control. We adjust the time based on your needs to ensure you feel completely at home underwater again. Debrief: A final wrap-up to log your session, answer any remaining questions, and update your SSI digital recognition. What’s Included Access to SSI eLearning refresher materials. SSI Scuba Explorers: An Underwater Adventure for Kids The SSI Scuba Explorers program is much more than just a diving course—it’s an aquatic journey designed specifically for children aged 8 to 12. In a safe, supportive, and fun environment, kids learn the fundamentals of scuba diving while building confidence, teamwork, and a deep appreciation for our blue planet. How it Works Eco-Explorations: The program is built around "Blue Oceans" themes. Children don’t just learn to dive; they learn about marine life, conservation, and how to be responsible underwater ambassadors. Pool-Based Fun: All sessions take place in the safe, shallow environment of the BCP Dolphin Leisure Centre in Poole. Under the constant supervision of an SSI Professional, kids master skills through games and underwater challenges. Your Experience Timeline Each session is structured to keep young explorers engaged and excited: The Briefing (45–60 Minutes): We start poolside, introducing specialized, kid-sized equipment. We talk about the day's "mission," safety rules, and the marine animals they might be "searching" for in the pool. Pool Mission (45–60 Minutes): Explorers head into the water to practice breathing and moving like a diver. They’ll participate in underwater games that subtly teach buoyancy and regulator skills. The Debrief: After the dive, we talk about what they achieved, log their exploration, and award recognition for their progress. Specialty Explorer Missions Once the basics are mastered, children can dive deeper with Specialty Missions. These allow them to earn "Specialty Explorer" ratings and work toward the prestigious Master Explorer level by completing any 12 missions. Buoyancy Explorer: Master weightlessness by hovering and navigating through underwater hoops. Navigation Explorer: Use underwater compasses and natural clues to find "lost treasure." Night & Limited Visibility: Use underwater torches to explore the "dark" and learn light signals. Photo Explorer: Get hands-on with underwater cameras to capture memories of the team. Rescue Explorer: Build confidence by learning surface safety and how to help a buddy. Search & Recovery: Use search patterns and small lift bags to retrieve "lost" items. SSI Diver Stress & Rescue: Build Confidence & Capability The SSI Diver Stress & Rescue course is widely considered one of the most rewarding and empowering programs you can take. It shifts your focus from yourself to the safety of others, teaching you how to recognize signs of stress, prevent accidents before they happen, and respond effectively to real-life emergencies. Whether you dive for fun or plan to go professional, this course makes you a better buddy and a much more confident diver. How it Works eLearning at Home: Before the practical sessions begin, you’ll complete the interactive SSI digital training. This covers the psychology of stress, how to identify problems in other divers, and the theory behind rescue techniques. Pool Sessions: We start in the controlled environment of the BCP Dolphin Leisure Centre. Here, you’ll master rescue skills—from assisting a panicked diver to performing underwater rescues—until they become second nature. Open Water Scenarios: You’ll put everything into practice during a full day at Vobster Quay. You will manage realistic rescue scenarios, including search patterns and bringing an unresponsive diver to the surface, in a true-to-life setting. Your Experience Timeline The course is delivered over three sessions to ensure you have plenty of time to build and refine your skills: Session 1 & 2: Pool Skills (2 Evenings, 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM): Focused on skill development, problem-solving, and equipment management in the pool. Session 3: Open Water Scenarios (1 Full Day, 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM): A comprehensive day at Vobster Quay where you will apply your skills in open water and complete your certification. The Divemaster program is the first step on an exciting journey. Earn the respect of your dive buddies and become an ambassador for diving by taking the Divemaster program. All you need to get started are 40 verified/logged dives and certifications in Deep Diving, Navigation, Night & Limited Visibility or at least 5 logged/verified dives experience in each area plus Diver Stress & Rescue. You will be certified as a Dive Guide after successfully completing the Divemaster program. When your interest is to turn your passion into a profession by guiding certified divers, teaching Ecology programs, assisting instructors or even becoming an instructor yourself, your next step is the Divemaster Upgrade with a minimum of 60 logged/verified. Upgrade to Divemaster right away or any time after by self-studying the Science of Diving materials, passing the Digital Final Exam which makes you an SSI Professional.

SSI React Right: First Aid, CPR, AED & Emergency Oxygen Gain the skills and confidence to handle emergencies with SSI React Right. Your Experience Timeline The course runs from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM and is designed to be interactive and engaging: Morning – Assessment & CPR: We begin with primary assessment and the "Chain of Survival." You’ll spend significant time practicing effective chest compressions and rescue breaths on training manikins. Midday – AED & First Aid: Learn how to safely operate an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and practice managing common injuries, illnesses, and proper bandaging techniques. Afternoon – Emergency Oxygen Provider: We focus on the recognition of diving-related injuries and the safe administration of oxygen. The SSI Deep Diving Specialty will teach you all you need to dive to depths between 18 and 40 meters, through a mixture of academic sessions and open water dives. You will learn to plan and safely complete your deep diving adventures and use computers and gas consumption calculations to get the most from your deep dives. Upon completion, you will earn your SSI Deep Diving Specialty certification and be able to explore beautiful deep dive sites wherever you choose. This SSI Specialty is also a prerequisite for some advanced training, making it the next logical step to take in your dive education.
