Precision underwater makes all the difference. Take your diving skills to the next level!
Think you already have good control underwater? Find out how much more you can improve!
Being a good diver means not only knowing how to manage a dive, but also having full control over your body, equipment, and movements in every situation.
The SSI Extended Range Foundations course is designed to help you refine your diving skills, develop greater precision and awareness, and gain increasingly effective control over your entire diving system.
You don’t have to want to become a technical diver to participate: the program is also an opportunity for growth for recreational divers who want to tangibly improve their performance.
Through progressive exercises, you’ll learn to move underwater with greater stability, efficiency, and safety, refining skills you can use on all your future dives.
What will you learn?
During the course, we will work on the fundamental skills that distinguish a well-prepared and knowledgeable diver.
Neutral Buoyancy and Depth Control
You will learn to maintain a stable position in the water column, reducing sway and controlling depth changes with greater precision, even while performing exercises and procedures.
Trim and Hydrodynamic Position
You will perfect your horizontal alignment, improving your balance and reducing drag. Proper positioning allows you to move with less effort and optimize energy consumption.
Advanced Fins Techniques
You will develop greater precision in propulsion and maneuvering techniques, including:
- Frog kick and variations.
- Controlled ascent techniques.
- Back kick, to move backward.
- Helicopter turn, to turn in place.
- Controlled movements in confined spaces.
The goal is to learn how to move exactly where you want to go, minimizing unnecessary movements.
Equipment Setup and Management
You will delve deeper into the organization of the complete diving system, the arrangement of accessories, and equipment management, learning to use the configuration for which you are certified in a more efficient and organized manner.
Communication and Teamwork
You will refine your underwater communication, positional awareness relative to your buddy, and coordination during drills, developing greater awareness of your surroundings.
Neutral Buoyancy Skills Management
One of the central aspects of the program will be learning to perform the procedures covered in the training while maintaining control, stability, and proper positioning in the water, without relying on the bottom for support.
A hands-on course, held entirely in the pool
Unlike many other specialty programs, SSI Extended Range Foundations focuses on skill training in a controlled environment.
At the L’Aquila Municipal Pool, which features a pool up to 4 meters deep, you’ll be able to practice while focusing on the quality and precision of your movements.
The program offered by ASD L'Aquila di Mare includes:
- 1 initial orientation session, dedicated to equipment preparation and setup.
- 4 practical sessions in confined water, 2 hours each, dedicated to the progressive refinement of skills.
- Briefings, demonstrations, error correction, and assessment of acquired skills.
There are no separate traditional classroom sessions: learning focuses on hands-on practice, supplemented by the necessary briefings and instructional insights required by the SSI program.
Training takes place entirely in a pool or confined water environment, in accordance with SSI standards and the specified depth limits.
Who is this for?
This course is particularly suitable for:
- Recreational divers who want to improve their buoyancy control, trim, and finning technique.
- Experienced divers who want to correct inefficient habits.
- Divers interested in improving their equipment setup and management.
- Those who wish to pursue Extended Range training courses in the future.
- Divemasters and diving professionals who want to refine their demonstration skills and control in the water.
To participate, you must meet the applicable SSI prerequisites, including those related to certification and diving experience.
Our Proposal: Recreational Foundations
ASD L'Aquila di Mare offers the program in the recreational single-tank configuration, ideal for those who wish to improve their skills without necessarily having to adopt a technical diving system.
Training is conducted in small groups to ensure individual attention, skill observation, and personalized corrections.
The twin-tank configuration can be evaluated separately upon request, depending on the participant’s requirements and existing certifications.
Your SSI Certification
Upon completion of the program and achievement of the required learning objectives, you will earn the international SSI Extended Range Foundations certification.
The program complements and enhances the skills associated with your existing certifications, without changing your operational depth limits or dive qualifications.
Participation fee: 200 €
The fee includes the SSI digital kit, the training required by the program, and the issuance of certification upon completion of the requirements.
Any need to rent specific equipment will be assessed prior to enrollment.
Limited spots available to ensure the quality of training.
