Start today - You need to be a Divemaster or equivalent to join SSI´s 3-Step Instructor Training Approach. The training process starts with joining the Assistant Instructor / Instructor Training Course combination accompanied with Digital Learning. After successful completion of the Instructor Training Course (ITC) you will enroll in an Instructor Evaluation (IE) to qualify as an SSI Open Water Instructor. This 10 day training program entitles you to teach various key SSI programs independently like Scuba Diver, Open Water Diver, Enriched Air Nitrox, Diver Stress & Rescue and Dive Guide. For those who want to take more time to learn and to gain valuable teaching experience between the training programs the 3 parts can also be taken as single steps - Assistant Instructor, Instructor Training Course (ITC) and Instructor Evaluation (IE) one after the other at own pace and with a flexible schedule.

The Divemaster program is the first step on an exciting journey. Earn the respect of your dive buddies and become an ambassador for diving by taking the Divemaster program. All you need to get started are 40 verified/logged dives and certifications in Deep Diving, Navigation, Night & Limited Visibility or at least 5 logged/verified dives experience in each area plus Diver Stress & Rescue. You will be certified as a Dive Guide after successfully completing the Divemaster program. When your interest is to turn your passion into a profession by guiding certified divers, teaching Ecology programs, assisting instructors or even becoming an instructor yourself, your next step is the Divemaster Upgrade with a minimum of 60 logged/verified. Upgrade to Divemaster right away or any time after by self-studying the Science of Diving materials, passing the Digital Final Exam which makes you an SSI Professional.

The Assistant Instructor rating is the next step after becoming a Divemaster along the scuba instructor pathway. It allows you to collect valuable teaching experience, practice briefings, teach academics, and conduct in-water training. If you want to further your career as a dive professional, you can finish the Instructor Training Course, pass the Instructor Evaluation, and become an Open Water Diving Instructor.

The SSI Night & Limited Visibility Specialty Instructor Seminar equips dive professionals with the knowledge, skills, and teaching techniques required to safely conduct Night and Limited Visibility specialty programs. Through practical training and instructor-level development, candidates learn how to manage dive planning, navigation, communication, safety procedures, and environmental awareness in low-light conditions.This seminar prepares instructors to confidently teach divers how to explore underwater environments after dark or in reduced visibility, while emphasizing risk management, student comfort, and responsible diving practices. Upon completion, instructors will be qualified to inspire divers to discover the unique sights, marine life, and experiences that only night and limited visibility diving can offer.

The SSI Navigation Specialty Instructor Seminar equips dive professionals with the knowledge, skills, and teaching techniques required to confidently conduct underwater navigation training. Through instructor-level development, candidates learn how to teach natural navigation methods, compass navigation, dive planning, and navigation patterns in various diving environments.This seminar emphasizes precision, confidence, and situational awareness, enabling instructors to help divers navigate effectively both above and below the surface. Candidates will develop the ability to conduct engaging training sessions while promoting safe diving practices and sound decision-making. Upon completion, instructors will be qualified to teach divers how to navigate with confidence, enhancing their safety, independence, and overall diving experience.

The SSI Deep Diving Specialty Instructor Seminar prepares dive professionals to teach divers how to safely explore deeper underwater environments with confidence and competence. Through instructor-level training, candidates gain the knowledge, skills, and teaching techniques required to conduct deep diving programs while emphasizing safety, planning, and responsible diving practices.This seminar focuses on deep dive planning, gas management, equipment considerations, environmental factors, and the physiological effects associated with increased depth. Candidates learn how to manage risks, monitor diver performance, and conduct effective training sessions that build confidence and situational awareness. Upon completion, instructors will be qualified to teach divers how to safely extend their depth limits and experience the excitement and challenges of deep diving.

React Right is SSI’s emergency first response course and provides you with the training and knowledge you need to act as a first responder in a medical emergency. In this flexible dive program, you can choose which subjects you want to learn about, including primary assessment, first aid, CPR and primary stabilization techniques. You can also learn about oxygen administration in diving emergencies and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) basics. Using a combination of academic sessions and practical training scenarios, this program will give you the tools and confidence you need for emergency response.
