The Kuda Giri is a very pretty, very well-established giri (pinnacle) with lots of small caves and overhangs, this giri is also covered with beautiful hard corals on the east side.
This “Thila” is in the middle of the kandooma kandu. From 2000 to 2009 this dive site was ranked world 10th place of shark diving. The top of the reef is full of hard corals. The sides of the “Thila” are covered with soft corals. The currents are strong here and highly recommend for Advanced and Nitrox divers.
Nice channel dive with many overhangs in around 20 meters depth. One of the overhangs at 20 meters has an opening at the ceiling with a window at 10 meters. Torch highly recommended. Many turtles seen here!
One of the interesting attractions during the east monsoon, this site offers a wide variety of big fish life. The entire channel is a marine protected area. Depending on the strength of the current, be well prepared for several downstream currents and some washing machines when drifting to the inside channel.
Dhigu Thila lies in the pass between the local island of Gulhi & the resort of Anantara. A quite long thila, it boasts majestic sea fans, beautiful soft & hard corals, and a dense & thriving fish life. Marble sting rays, eagle rays, grey reef sharks, occasional manta rays, and good macro is what you can expect here.
Vaggiri is a great dive site for every diver, especially those who love to see small life and have longer dives. There are overhangs, small caves and swim throughs. The formation of this giri is very unique and a perfect place to try out deep dives for the first time.
Beautiful outside reef dive. Many big and small coral blocks between 5-15 meters. A gentle drop off going down to 30 meters. Best to be dived in an East to West current.
Lumboa Giri is located quite close to Kuda Giri, and it’s a quite similar dive site, although smaller and without the wreck. A nice pinnacle, with an interesting configuration, it boasts with nice hard & soft corals, a good fish life, and makes for an interesting macro option.
Your best dive at Cocoa Corner will be when the northeast incoming ocean current hits this Atoll, which then only requires you a minimal fin kick to cruise along. This can be a long drift or a short drift dive. Make sure you do not miss the corner. An ideal spot for a early morning dive to see hammerhead sharks.
Named after the nearby sandbank were “scantily clad“ tourists from Maafushi used to come to frolic before the opening of Bikini Beach on the island. Nice dive site for macro & night dives, with healthy coral and good fish life. Turtles are present, along with Mobula rays and the occasional white tip reef shark.
This dive site is well known as a Manta Ray Cleaning and feeding zone from April to beginning of November and some times into mid-December. This is one of the best places to dive with these giant rays within this part of the Atoll.
Small caves & overhangs that lays in the middle of the pass between Maafushi & Anantara Resort. Good fish life, and nice soft coral growing underneath the coral formations, tucked away from light and current, which can be quite strong here.
With a slow incoming current Kandoo Kan is a great site of beginner divers to observe plenty of big fish life close to the reef. This is one of the best dive sites to encounter huge green sea turtles.
Lhosfushi corner can be dived with strong or medium flowing inward or outward of the atoll, or with no current at all. It’s therefore a suitable dive site for all level, with both good hard & soft corals, and a very dense fish life.
This dive site is located on east side of dive point rannalhi, boat navigation time is 40min. Its a very small round giri, you can swim around in one hour.
