Once a small fishing village, today Los Cristianos is one of the main tourist areas in the south of Tenerife. Located in the Atlantic Ocean, Tenerife is the Canary Islands largest island with clear water abundant with marine life from whales to seahorses. Scuba diving in Los Cristianos will find divers descending onto impressive wrecks, rocky reefs and statues in tribute to the world’s most famous ocean explorer, Jacques Cousteau.

There are several dive centres in Los Cristianos which will assist you at both shore and boat entry dive sites. There are no dive resorts located directly in Los Cristianos.

Courses and Events

Divemaster Internship

Would you like to turn the ocean into your workplace? We offer guidance of experienced instructors, an individual approach, a high level of professionalism, and most importantly dozens of dive sites and loads of fun! During the DM internship, you will complete the Science of diving specialty and get additional diving knowledge to be able to assist with the SSI courses and be able to conduct excursion dives with Open Water Diver students. Additionally, you will be able to qualify as a training specialist for ecology courses. You will spend the extra time learning about the work in the dive center. You'll join us at our dives, you will get hands-on experience with everyday operations at the center, get a lot of practice working with real customers and we’ll make sure to push your diving skills to another level. We will guide you through your internship with helpful tips for your future career. The requirements for this course is to be a Dive Guide with 60 logged dives but don’t worry, if you need to, we can get you there before you start. Please note that this is not a “work for certification” situation; we conduct our courses professionally and we make sure you’ll have a lifetime experience. Sounds good? SSI Dive Guide is the first professional level in diving. You learn how to lead certified divers and conduct snorkeling tours. You can do the same as Dive Guide plus you will be able to assist on SSI courses and can become an ecology programs training specialist. This level is a prerequisite for assistant instructor rating and for other continuing professional diving education programs. We can also offer you unbeatable discounted prices for continuing education such as specialties, or basic courses in case you need to reach a certain level before enrolling in a DG or DM course. Dive Guide Course

Dive Activity

Diving in Los Cristianos

Accessed straight from the shore, Las Vistas Beach is the ideal location for a first dive experience as well as the training dives of dive courses. At a maximum depth of 20-metres, The Condesito wreck is suitable for beginner divers while The Meridian, sitting 30-metres deep, is reserved for the more experienced diver. The seabed of Tenerife is mainly formed by volcanic rocks eroded into the shape of caves and arches found at sites such as El Bufadero and Yellow Mountain.

Top Wildlife Sightings in Los Cristianos

Around one-third of all whale and dolphin species either reside in or pass-through Canarian waters. There are 4 resident species, the pilot whale, risso dolphin, sperm whale, and bottlenose dolphin as well as 24 migratory species that are possible to spot. In the darkness provided by caves, divers will observe moray eels while shallow stony reefs make the ideal habitat for groups of green turtles. Macro-enthusiasts will delight in finding the elusive harlequin crab and seahorse.

The best Months to dive in Los Cristianos

Los Cristianos and Tenerife are located close to the equator, giving the area a warm and dry climate throughout the year. In winter, the water temperature averages around 18℃ while in summer 24℃ is the expected temperature. Los Cristianos diving is best between April and October when the water temperature is at its most comfortable.
