This site is suitable for divers of all training levels, having a large drop off on its southern side. It falls from 10 to 30 meters and is beautifully carpeted with soft corals and sponges. In the north, there are numerous overhangs at 15-25 meters. Mares, Janez Kranjc Simply The Best (★4.6) A small Giri to the west of Mulee Island. To the east side, at 10-25 m depth, there are beautifully overgrown ridges with a fine display of corals. The reef top is in perfect condition and there are plenty of large table corals and other hard corals to admire. Aqualung 1000 Rocks (★5.0) 1000 Rocks is located within the marine nature reserve. The entry is north of the Faru. The sandy plateau falls from 5-15 meters and is sprinkled with lovely coral formations. From a depth of 18m onwards, there are large caverns beautifully decorated with many types of soft corals. Mares Mantas and More (★4.5) This is a top dive site in this area, located to the east of Mulee Island. During the season from December to May, it is possible to spot manta rays with their offspring, busying themselves around the numerous cleaning stations at 10 - 15 meters. The gentle slope from 15 - 30 meters is adorned with coral formations. Scubapro, Stephen Frink Picasso (★4.3) An easy dive site, this Giri west of Medhufushi is free of currents. It´s known for the unbelievable beauty of the coral garden at 15 - 25 m, displaying soft, leather, and fan corals, as well as a big selection of sponges. Scubapro, Stephen Frink Medhufushi Thila (★4.4) A beautiful thila (pinnacle) to the west of Medhufushi Island. On the south side of the thila at 15 - 25 meters, there is a stunning display of soft coral. The dive site is remarkable due to a large number of beautifully adorned overhangs. Aqualung Kurali Kandu (★4.2) This site is a shallow and narrow channel with great coral life with a few coral blocks that act as cleaning stations for fish and larger marine animals. Mares Gaa Huraa Kandu / Van Huraveli Kandu (★4.3) This channel located in the north of Meemu atoll offers a wide variety of marine life. If the current is not too strong you can cross the whole channel during the dive. Aqualung Wave Giri (★4.3) Wave Giri lies west of Muleeh Island and is adorned with ledges begging you for being explored. The caves and ridges can mainly be found at a depth of 2 - 30 m. There are wonderful soft coral gardens. On the west side there are large coral formations at 12 - 15 m. Mares The Big Cave (★4.6) The Big Cave is along Faru in the inner Atoll and is part of the Maldivian Marine Park. The dive leads through an endless cavern, which is about 10 m high and 15-30 m deep. Its inside is laced with soft corals, gorgonians, and assorted anemones. Mares Sharks Tongue (★4.6) Due to the currents, Sharks Tongue can become a tricky dive site, which requires some skills. “Sharks Tongue“ is located east of Mulah Island. Its highlight is the reef slope at 15 - 25 meters deep, which is the utmost in shark “dormitories“. With incoming current, you will often spot grey reef sharks and silvertips. Scubapro The Scorpion (★4.5) This small Giri lies to the west of Medhufushi Island and offers perfect dive conditions. The island is encircled with caverns at about 10 m, some reaching down to 30 m. The ridges and caverns are separated by a few sandy streches, where many fish can be found. Aqualung Chapati (★5.0) A Thila southwest of Medhufushi. On its southwest side, at 10 - 15 m, there is a sandy plateau, which is covered in soft corals of all shapes and sizes. The eastern side has numerous caverns and overhangs to be explored at 15 - 30 m. Aqualung Medhu Outside (★4.4) This site is found on the outer reef of Medhufushi Island. An endless elongated Faru, the top of the reef is covered in coral blocks at roughly 30 m. There is also a big drop off going down til 50 m+. Mares Easy Express (★4.4) Easy Express is a drift dive on the east side of Veyvah Island. On the wide reef top there are numerous coral formations with quite stunning anemonies. The steep drop pff at 12 - 30 m has plenty of overhangs. Scubapro, Stephen Frink Rayvilla (Wreck) (★3.5) This dive site is a wreck to the west of Meemu Atoll. The wooden wreck of a transportation dhoni rests on the south side of the Giri at 20 - 33 m deep. It is approx. 30 m long and sank in 1979. It is easy to dive inside. The Giri is adorned with interesting overhangs and many small caves and caverns. Mares Grouper Cave (★4.3) This small Giri lies to the west of Medhufushi. The sandy plateau at 10 - 14 m is covered in coral formations; also there are huge overhangs full of soft corals, reaching down from 15 - 33 m. As the Giri is very protected, this dive site is suitable for all diving levels. Mares, Janez Kranjc Veyvah Tila (★4.1) This is a small Thila west of Veyvah Island. Since it is located in the inner atoll area, it is easy to dive here. From about 15 m there are drop offs and overhangs. In the west, there is a sandy plateau which is covered in coral formations. In the north, there are several large blocks of corals in front of the Thila. Scubapro Triple Rock (★4.9) Triple Rock consists of 3 small Giris to the west of Medhufushi. At around 10 m deep, there are overhangs that reach over to the east. On the middle Giri we find soft corals and giant clams. On the southwest side, there is a plateau with large coral formations at 15 m. Marco photographers will be delighted. Aqualung Hakura Giri (★4.2) This Giri lies very protected in the inner atoll, north of Hakura Island, and therefore is usually free of currents. On the northwest side, the drop-off falls to 30 m. Mares Streets of Mulah (★4.2) This site is located off the northeast side of Mulah Island. 4 Reefs stretch out from NW to SE, with their reef tops between 5 and 10 m below the surface. In between those Thilas, you find narrow sandy passages (only 5 - 10 m wide on the narrowest point). Mares Boahura Express (★4.5) This dive site is along the outer reef side of the Faru. The structure of the reef is like a steep slope around 45°. From 30 m on the reef, it goes straight down like a wall. Aqualung Bodu Securade (★0.0) “Bodu Securade“ is a long Faru inside the atoll. Along a nice drop off from 15 - 25 meters we have many overhangs and smaller caves, the walls are covered in soft corals and sponges, which dazzle with their variety of colors. Mares Half and Half (★4.0) This is a simple and relaxing dive for all levels of experience and skills. As indicated by the name, this dive site is divided into two parts - a wall dropping to roughly 23 m and a sandy plateau with many different coral blocks. Mares Turtle Bay (★4.3) “Turtle Bay“ is the closest reef. This dive spot is just at the beginning of the inside atoll and the navigation is very easy. The reef goes down from 5 - 40 m and has a lot of overhangs. Mares, Predrag Vuckovic Maalhaveli Outside (★4.7) The reef on the eastern side of Maalhaveli Island is a long Faru on the outer side of the atoll. This spot is located between “Boahura Express“ in the north and “Medhufushi Outside“ in the south. The top of the reef is about 8 - 10 m deep and continues in a 45° angle to 30 m. Mares, Janez Kranjc Kurali Corner (★4.4) This reef is located on the northwestern corner of the small Kurali Island in the southwest of Meemu Atoll. It slightly drops down to a depth of about 30 m and beyond. Mares Deep Corner (★3.5) This dive site is located right in the middle of the channel, between “Mantas and More“ and “Sharks Tongue.“ The significant features of this dive site are the coral walls gently sloping down to 35 m which turn into a sheer drop to the blue ocean, offering a mass of overhangs to explore. Mares Van Gogh (★5.0) This small Giri lies west of Medhufushi. It is covered in overhangs on the northwest side and has small caverns on the south side. There is a drop off from 10 - 30 m which stretches around the whole Giri. At a depth of 10 - 15 m there are large coral formations, which are full of marine life. Mares Chapati Tilas (★5.0) The dive site “Chapati Thilas“consists of the main reef sloping into a sandy plateau, on which you find many small Thilas coming up to a depth of 15 m. The plateau ends in a big drop off at 25 m, going down to around 34 m. Roam around the Thilas to find sleeping rays or sharks on the sandy bottom.
