Cartagena is a port city in the region of Murcia on the south east coast of Spain. This is also a naval base and is known for its rich Roman history. There is a wide selection of diving to be done here which caters to divers of all interests. There are multiple dive centres and dive resorts which will take divers diving from shore at the multiple shore dive sites or out on the boats for those sites further out. Whether it’s wrecks, rocky reefs, caves, marine critters or schools of fish, there are many experiences to be ticked off any divers bucket list here, and all that in combination with, in general, calm water conditions and 300 days of sun a year, this should be on any divers list of diving destinations.

The Instructor Evaluation (IE) is the final step of SSI’s 2-Step Instructor Training Approach Divemasters or equivalent-level professionals will have to successfully complete the Instructor Training Course (ITC) first where you’ll learn how to:

• Conduct academic sessions
• Lead confined water training
• Teach Open Water Diver and various Specialty programs like Enriched Air Nitrox, Diver Stress&Rescue, Perfect Buoyancy and more
• Develop student management and communication skills

You may be eligible for shortened oboarding options where you will only have to complete certain parts of the Instructor Training Course (ITC) followed by passing an Instructor Evaluation (IE). Hypoxic Trimix (100m)

Get ready to push your technical diving skills to the limit. SSI’s Hypoxic Trimix program will use all the knowledge, skills, equipment, and experience you have gained from your previous advanced dive training to take you on a journey to the depths of the ocean. You will learn how to safely conduct the ultimate decompression dive by using trimix diving techniques and procedures. Learn how to carry and properly use a minimum of three stage-cylinders for travel and decompression gas alongside your twinset diving configuration. Using hypoxic trimix breathing gases, you will plan and conduct dives to a maximum depth of 100 meters. You will earn the coveted SSI Hypoxic Trimix certification after completing this program.

The best Months to Dive in the Murcia Region

The Murcia Region offers excellent diving conditions year-round, with water temperatures ranging from 14°C–26°C/57°F–79°F. Divers can enjoy the warmest waters from June to September, while the winter months bring cooler temperatures. Visibility is generally good, ranging from 10 meters/33 feet to 30 meters/98 feet, providing clear views of the marine life and underwater landscapes.

Diving is possible throughout the year, although conditions may vary. The calmest seas are typically found during the warmer months, while wind and currents can become more pronounced in winter, potentially affecting dive plans. However, with careful planning, divers can experience the underwater beauty of Murcia at any time, keeping in mind that autumn and winter might present less favorable weather conditions.
