Start today - You need to be a Divemaster or equivalent to join SSI´s 3-Step Instructor Training Approach. The training process starts with joining the Assistant Instructor / Instructor Training Course combination accompanied with Digital Learning. After successful completion of the Instructor Training Course (ITC) you will enroll in an Instructor Evaluation (IE) to qualify as an SSI Open Water Instructor. This 10 day training program entitles you to teach various key SSI programs independently like Scuba Diver, Open Water Diver, Enriched Air Nitrox, Diver Stress & Rescue and Dive Guide. This reservoir floods a former mine. Therefore, the shoreline consists of steeply sloping stone walls. The lake is very dark, but its golden yellow water is impressive, especially in the sunshine. The rocks glitter underwater (cat silver). A very nice dive site, but for more experienced divers.

The lake features intriguing underwater rock formations and is home to diverse freshwater fish, offering a vibrant experience for wildlife enthusiasts. Divers might also explore the cave systems nearby, adding an adventurous twist to their diving itinerary in Styria.

The best Months to dive in Styria

Diving in Styria offers varied experiences throughout the year. During spring, water temperatures in lakes and rivers range from 10°C–15°C/50°F–59°F, providing cool but comfortable conditions. Visibility is generally moderate, improving as the waters warm and clear. Summer is the best time for diving, with temperatures reaching 20°C–24°C/68°F–75°F and excellent visibility, making it ideal for exploring submerged landscapes.

Autumn brings a drop in temperature to around 10°C–15°C/50°F–59°F, with leaves and organic matter affecting visibility. Winter diving is more challenging due to potential ice cover, especially in higher altitudes, and water temperatures dropping to 4°C–7°C/39°F–45°F. Ice diving requires special training and equipment. The best months for diving are from June to September, when conditions are warmest and visibility is at its peak.
