The SSI Decompression Diving Specialty course shows you how to dive beyond no-decompression limits. You will learn to plan and execute dives to a maximum depth of 40 meters with limited decompression using your recreational diving equipment and a single scuba tank. You will learn and practice how to effectively use the functions of your dive computer, such as gas exchange or gas integration, as well as remaining air time and ascent time. Using these computer functions will quickly become routine for you so that you can make safe dives with limited decompression without hours of dive planning. Upon completion of the course, you will receive the SSI Decompression Diving Specialty certification, allowing you to explore stunning deep dive sites or large wrecks without the limitation of no-decompression limits. Although normally you will always dive with a buddy, there may be reasons why experienced divers choose to dive solo (e.g. underwater photography). It is more common to be involuntarily separated from your buddy while diving. During the SSI Independent Diver course you will learn about the potential risks of solo diving and develop the necessary skills and abilities to dive independently, responsibly, autonomously and safely, while becoming a stronger buddy partner or team member on your dives. You will practice how to help yourself in different situations and learn how to adjust and check your equipment for solo dives. This course is therefore particularly interesting for the following groups of people: divers who travel a lot, ambitious divers, wreck divers, photographers, videographers and all dive professionals.

This specialty provides you with the knowledge and advanced skills you need to navigate safely and confidently underwater. You will learn different ways to orientate yourself underwater using a compass or natural navigation, determine directions and distances, navigate different courses and search patterns, find different marker points and learn how to return to your starting point. After completing the course, you will receive the SSI Navigation Specialty certification.
