Thinga Thila, meaning “Lion Seamount” in Dhivehi, is named after the impressive number of large lionfish found on the southeast side of the reef. Starting at just 3m, the reef slopes gently down to around 30m and offers a treasure trove of underwater discoveries. One highlight followed by another ....
A favourite for photographers and explorers, the reef is home to lionfish, moray eels, several shrimp species and hundreds of bannerfish among diverse coral formations.
