ANGRA DOS REIS
Angra Dos Reis - Brazil A Portuguese navigator, Gonzalo Coelho, was the first to visit the well-known Brazilian seaside resort, Angra dos Reis. He arrived at Ilha Grande on Three Kings' Day 1502, which gave the name to this city located a little more than 150 kilometers from Rio de Janeiro: Angra dos Reis or Cove of the Kings. This city on the Costa Verde belongs to the State of Rio and according to its visitors is the expression of a perfect paradise. In its beginnings it was a fishing cove and during the XVIII and XIX centuries, it focused its economy on sugar. In fact, today some vestiges of this past can still be seen in the city. It is surrounded by more than 360 islands and nearly two thousand beaches, which makes it one of the places with an exquisite diversity of marine fauna and therefore, an ideal place to practice diving. But the natural beauties are not the only thing that Angra dos Reis offers. Its Colonial history left a wonderful architecture that is still preserved to this day.
