An Indoordiver is a diver who makes his first dives in a swimming pool or a specially designed diving pool. The Indoordiver course teaches the basics of diving under controlled conditions before going into open water. Upon successful completion, the diver receives a certificate that qualifies them for certain dives in confined water. What is an indoor diver course? An indoor diver course is a diving course that takes place in a controlled environment such as a swimming pool or indoor diving center. The course teaches the basic diving skills and knowledge required for safe diving. Difference to Open Water Diver: The main difference to the Open Water Diver course is that all dives in the Indoor Diver course take place in a swimming pool or an artificial body of water, rather than in open water. After completing the Indoor Diver course, you can usually dive with a buddy or under the supervision of an instructor to a certain depth (often 18 meters) in confined waters. Additional open water dives are often required to obtain full open water certification. An indoordiver who wishes to progress to Open Water Diver (OWD) can do so by completing a specialty course that includes the open water dives. The Indoor Diver course is essentially a preparation for the OWD, with the open water dives in the Indoor Diver course being replaced by indoor dives. In order to obtain the OWD, the missing open water dives must be completed. Advantages of an OWD course for indoor divers: Extended diving options: With the OWD certificate, you can dive to depths of up to 18 meters worldwide and rent equipment, which is not possible with the indoor diver alone. Independence: The OWD makes it possible to dive with a buddy without the supervision of a diving instructor. Increased self-confidence: Completing open water dives strengthens self-confidence and skills in handling diving equipment and in different conditions. Preparation for further courses: The OWD is the basis for further diving courses such as the Advanced Open Water Diver (AOWD). Upgrade course procedure: The course usually includes the theory and practical pool exercises that have already been completed in the indoor diver course. The missing open water dives (usually 2 or 4) are carried out to consolidate the skills learned under real conditions. A particularly rare relic of the Russian occupation awaits you in the Schwerin Outer Lake. The wreckage of a suspected MIG-17 was long considered a legend before it was finally found in 2013. Due to its exposed location in the northern part of Lake Schwerin, you will need to allow a little more time for this trip. However, you will be rewarded with an unforgettable dive at a special technical monument. The MIG crashed in 1954. Today, the aluminum hull is stuck like a dart in the 17-meter-deep bottom. The wreck is completely colonized by small shells. Nevertheless, details such as the tail unit and the remains of pipes and instruments are clearly visible. One wing is still connected to the fuselage and protrudes like a metal wall half submerged in the silt. The other wing lies a few meters from the wreck and still shows the clearly visible red Russian star. Cargo glider - a historic wreck in top condition Do you already know our most beautiful wreck? This year we would like to organize our traditional Christmas Dive at the base in Raben Steinfeld. The fire will be lit from 10 am. At 11.30 a.m. we will all go into the water together with Santa Claus. We have prepared a heated changing room for those of you who are brave enough to go into the water wet, and of course there will be a Christmas tree and Buggi's popular layered cabbage again this year!!! All of us from the D.I.V.E. team are looking forward to welcoming divers and non-divers!

We want to celebrate with you and want to see you again at our base before the long winter. Divers Night is an annual event where divers from all over the world go into the water at the same time (local time). The event takes place on the first Saturday in November from 18:00. This year we will go into the water together at 8.25 p.m. Divers Night is a non-profit event. The aim of the events is to bring together as many divers, clubs and bases from all over the country as possible for a nice get-together. Food and drink can be purchased for a small fee. This enabled us to donate € 500,-- to the children's hospice in Schwerin in 2022 and another € 500,-- to the Bernstorf Castle Hospice in 2023 and € 702,-- to the Herzkissen association in 2024.
