Hasama Ocean Park (★3.8)

Hasama Ocean Park is in the inner bay of Tateyama on the Boso Peninsula. There is a beach, but boat diving is the main activity. At “Takane“ point, about 5 minutes from the harbor, there is a shrine and a large torii in the water.

Izu Oceanic Park (★3.8)

Izu Oceanic Park is the most popular dive site in Higashi-Izu. The facilities are good and there is a pool. In the summer, the area is crowded with beachgoers and ordinary people who use the pool.

Hatsushima Island (★4.0)

It is the only inhabited remote island in Shizuoka Prefecture, about 10 km off the coast of Atami, which can be reached in 30 minutes by ferry. After crossing the island, you can go beach diving or boat diving.

IOT (★4.3)

Iriomote Island is called the "Galapagos of the East. About 90% of the island is covered with virgin forest. There are mountains 300 to 400 meters high, more than 40 rivers and many waterfalls. Therefore, people are interested in the island not only for diving but also for visiting nature on land. Underwater there are many fish and there is a possibility to see manta rays in Iriomote Island.

Ito is a relatively new point located in Tateyama, Boso Peninsula, Chiba Prefecture. You’ll see baited sharks and stingrays, as well as large groupers. Boat diving only. There are buoys at either end of a large, narrow root, and depending on the current, the fish will enter from one buoy and rise from the other.

Apogama (Mermaid Grotto) in Onna Village, Okinawa, features a large natural cave with a heart-shaped hollow, famed as a lovers’ spot. With depths to 35m, its underwater tunnels and arches offer stunning topography and diverse marine life, making it a captivating dive site.

Coral Garden Amami Oshima (★4.1)

Coral Garden in Amami Oshima, Kagoshima, features vibrant coral colonies including Palau coral. With depths of 8–10m and minimal current, it’s ideal for all skill levels. Accessible year-round, just 10 minutes by boat, it’s a popular and beginner-friendly dive spot.

Ida in Numazu City, Shizuoka, is a top beach dive site in Nishi Izu, famed for its clear “Ida Blue“ waters. Its gentle rocky slope suits all levels, with rich marine life and good tidal flow. Ideal for both macro and wide-angle photography, it’s a favorite among divers year-round.

Kamigoo, in northeast Tokashiki Island, offers the clear waters of the Kerama Islands. Colonies of kikka, eda, and hamago corals contrast beautifully with white sand. With depths to 25m and gentle tides, it’s safe for all levels. Access is mainly by boat, with routes to suit any diving style.

Nagura Coral Garden in Nagura Bay, Ishigaki Island, boasts Japan’s richest coral diversity and density. With stunning coral and table coral scenery, calm currents, and clear water, it’s ideal for all levels. The best season is May to October for peak visibility and beauty.

Koganezaki (★4.3)

Located in Koganezaki Park, you can enjoy various flowers depending on the season, and entry/exit is very easy to do due to the ramps and handrails. When you enter, you’ll see a wide range of gorotas up to a few meters deep, and beyond that, you’ll see an entire surface of the sand.

Fukuura (★4.2)

Located on the west side of the Manazuru Peninsula, it is a popular point that is quite close to the Kanto area. Beach entry and boat entry are available. The beach is home to a colony of coral anemones that have been designated as a natural monument and are surrounded by colorful creatures, including clownfish.

Aki no Hama (★4.3)

This is the largest and closest of the seven Izu Islands to the mainland. Mihara, an active volcano, is located in the center of the island. Boat diving is also available, but due to the variety of beach points, diving from the beach is more popular. The most popular of these is Autumn Beach.

Enoura, on the west side of Kanagawa in the Nishishon area, is a safe dive site with a sloped entry and guide ropes underwater. With a max depth of 16m, it’s ideal for new divers. Follow the rope to spot a Doraemon statue at 15m. The site is cleaned annually around November.

Sunabe No.1 (★4.2)

Sunabe Beach is a point in Chatan Town, about a 40 minutes drive north from Naha City. With a beach entry, the water depth is around 20 meters at most. The average clarity is about 15 meters. It is also often used for beginners for trial diving and certification courses.

Yamada Coral Farm in Onna Village, Okinawa, is just minutes by boat from Maeganeku Port. This vast, cultivated hard coral garden hosts bear clams and countless small fish, offering stunning scenery and easy diving for both beginners and experienced divers.

The Kerama Islands, dotted on the west side of Naha City in Okinawa Prefecture, are known as one of the best diving spots in Japan and are visited by divers from all over the world. Nishihama Beach, located west of Aka Island, one of the Keirama Islands, is a famous diving spot in the Aka Island area.

Kuefu Island North (★4.4)

Chibisi is the collective name for three uninhabited islands, Kamiyama Island, Naganu Island, and Kuev Island, located about 10 kilometers west of Naha City, about 30 minutes by boat from Naha. There are no liner boats to Chebisi.

Sesoko Island Labyrinth (★4.5)

Sesoko Island, located in the East China Sea north of the main island of Okinawa, is a small island about 8 km in circumference. It is connected to the main island of Okinawa by the Sesoko Bridge. There are a number of caves, tunnels, and arches in the water.

Manta Ray Scramble (★4.4)

This dive site, located on the northwest side of Ishigaki Island, has one of the highest rates of encounters with manta rays in the world. It can be reached by boat in 10 to 15 minutes. The water depth is around 10-20m and the tide is relatively calm but can become stronger at times. A small hill in the middle of the sea is a cleaning station where the manta rays come to visit. Manta rays swim around at a depth of 5 to 10 meters, so you can see them by snorkeling.

Okubo Hama (★4.3)

Located in the northern part of the island, this is the main dive site of Miyakejima. This is a beach entry only. The terrain is formed by lava flowing into the water, with roots protruding offshore. There is a fairly large area to the east and west of the dive site, and you can’t go all the way around on one dive.

Atami Kosoga Cave (★4.2)

Kosoga Cave in Atami, Shizuoka, is open Nov–Apr and features a 40m semi-enclosed cave at 6–12m depth, ideal for beginners. Its wide space and open ceiling let sunlight create a stunning blue gradation. Just 10 minutes by boat from Atami Port, it’s both scenic and accessible.

Located near Atami’s wreck, this dive site has fixed buoys with depths from 18-20m below the buoy. West side (No.1 root) stays ~20m deep; east side (No.2 root) deepens to 30m. Strong currents, rich fish schools, and varied terrain make it popular.

Sodaine (★4.3)

Sodaine is a pinnacle in Atami, Shizuoka, features dynamic terrain with vibrant soft corals. Depths range 15–30m, with schools of snappers at 10–20m. Its sandy southeast slope and northeast drop-off attract topography lovers. Best from fall to winter, when clear waters reveal stunning underwater scenery.

Nakagi is located in the southernmost in the Izu Peninsula. This area benefits from Black Stream and shows various scenes underwater as the seasons change. The scenery created by nature over the centuries will attract divers both of land and underwater.

Atami Wreck (★4.4)

The Asahi 16, a gravel transport ship, rests split in half underwater, a notable shipwreck in Japan. Its large hull emerges unexpectedly in sandy surroundings, becoming a thriving fish habitat. Near the bow, a winch attracts colorful fish, while descent ropes at both ends offer unique wreck diving experiences.

Pineapple Rock in Minami Ise, Mie, is a boat-entry site with depths to 16m, ideal for all levels. A large pineapple-shaped root hosts schools of snappers, butterflyfish, and resting dorado sharks. With 15–17m visibility, it’s popular among topography, macro, and wide-angle divers.

Pink Marlin Buoy (★4.3)

The Pink Marlin Buoy in Onna Village, Okinawa, is a top dive site about an hour from Naha Airport. Accessible by boat or beach, it’s famous for the “Blue Cave,” where sunlight creates a stunning blue glow. You can surface inside, though expect many snorkelers.

The “Blue Cave” at Cape Maeda, Onna Village, Okinawa, is famous for its mystical blue light, created by sunlight reflecting off the white sandy bottom. With depths of 5–7m, it’s ideal for all levels, offering rich marine life inside and out, and is a top spot for snorkeling and experience diving.

那覇からボートで約３０分に位置するチービシ諸島の神山島の南に位置する神山ラビリンス。ラビリンスというポイント名はその地形が迷宮のようになっていることからつけられている。水中をダイビングしているとスイムスルーやケーブなど地形を堪能することが出来る。深度も５～１５Ｍ程で初級者から中級者まで楽しめるポイントである。

Uchizan (★4.4)

沖山礁は慶良間諸島の前島、黒島、渡嘉敷島に囲まれた中心部分に位置している。流れもあり平均水深も１５～２０ｍと深め。基本的にはドリフトダイビングとなるため中級者から上級者向けのポイント。ナンヨウマンタのクリーニングステーションでもあることから絶大な人気を誇るダイビングポイントである。他にもロウニンアジやメインの根では濃い魚影を楽しむことが出来る。

Nozaki (★4.6)

慶良間諸島の中で最大の島である渡嘉敷島の西側に位置するポイント。アオウミガメへの遭遇もよくあり、浅場の珊瑚はすごくきれい。深場に行くと最大深度は２５ｍ程で珊瑚の群生とハナゴイやデバスズメダイなどのたくさんの魚が見られる。初級者から中級者向けのポイントである。大潮や中潮の時は流れが出ることもある。
