The SSI Scuba Diver is designed for those who do not have enough time to complete the full Open Water Diver program. The program corresponds to the first half of the Open Water Diver program and can be upgraded to the SSI Open Water Diver through additional training and theory units. What can I do after completing the course? The course provides you with the necessary training and experience to be able to dive safely in open waters under the supervision of a dive professional, as you learn all the important diving skills, knowledge and equipment. However, this certificate does not allow you to dive alone with a dive buddy. Throughout your training and afterwards, you will be accompanied by an experienced diving professional who will make sure that you feel safe and comfortable and that nothing happens to you. Certified scuba divers may only dive to a depth of 12 meters when accompanied by a diving professional. After successfully completing your course, you will receive the SSI Scuba Diver certification. Occasionally you see more and more divers who no longer dive with one or two tanks on their back (backmount), but carry the tanks on their side (sidemount). But why do they do this and are there any advantages over the other system? sidemount diving was developed by wreck and cave divers, for whom the most hydrodynamic position possible was important in order to fit through narrow and small passages.
