Explore Beqa Island
Fiji promises a rich world of underwater paradise under its glimmering turquoise waves. With so many memorable places to enjoy scuba diving suitable for all levels, it’s always cited as a favourite destination among the worldwide diving community.
Lying just south of the main Fijian island of Viti Levu, Beqa Island is easily accessible and is a common destination for those that want to get straight into the water. Dive centers and dive resorts abound, availability is abundant. Divers can also opt for a liveaboard.
It’s thought that there are over 100 in the Beqa area, that include coral bommies and pinnacles, fringing reefs, and a couple of wrecks. The corals are magnificently healthy and vibrant, and the numbers of fish, reef critters and sharks are far from disappointing.
Beqa Lagoon, a major diving hotspot, is made up of 100 square miles of clear turquoise water surrounded by around 30 kilometres of barrier reef, allowing it to be in the club of the world’s largest barrier reefs.

1. The Cathedral
This site offers an extraordinary experience with multiple shark species, including tiger sharks, which are a common sight. The adventure level is advanced, suitable for scuba diving. The main attraction is the congregation of sharks, making it a premier shark diving site.
2. Caesar's Rocks
Famous for its vibrant topography with soft coral bommies and giant sea fans, this site is rich with fish species. Suitable for both easy and advanced scuba diving, it features a coral-lined tunnel ideal for photography. Occasional sightings of tuna, turtles, and manta rays occur here.
3. Blue Wall
Known for excellent visibility, divers can see sharks, mantas, and eagle rays. The adventure level is advanced, catering to scuba divers. The site's appeal lies in its clear waters and the presence of various pelagic species.
4. Frigate Wall
This site offers encounters with pelagics and critters hiding in its cracks and alleyways. It is suitable for advanced scuba diving. The site's special features include diverse marine life and intriguing underwater formations.
5. E.T
Featuring a large bommie and a huge tunnel leading to two chambers, this site is adorned with colorful soft corals. It's suitable for advanced scuba diving and offers unique topographical exploration opportunities.
6. Carpet Cove
Known for its abundance of anemones and a Chinese trawler wreck, this site houses electric clams, turtles, and whitetip sharks. It suits advanced scuba divers and features a wreck covered with encrusted corals.
7. Fantasea
With potential currents, this site offers a coral ridge with crinoids and various corals, alongside large gorgonian fans. It's suitable for advanced scuba diving and features diverse marine life and unique coral formations.
8. Seven Sisters
Hosting numerous pinnacles, this site offers a dynamic topography rich in marine life. It's suitable for advanced scuba diving, with its ever-changing landscape providing a captivating dive experience.
9. The Pinnacle
Close to Vatulele Island, this site is renowned for pelagic encounters with grey reef sharks, eagle rays, and possibly bull and tiger sharks. Suitable for advanced scuba diving, it is a top spot in Fiji for thrilling underwater experiences.
