Char

The char fish, also known as Arctic char, is a close relative to the trout and salmon of North America. Arctic char are commonly found in the cold, deep lakes and rivers of the New England area of North America. It is also widely distributed throughout the North Atlantic to Europe and the icy Pacific waters near Alaska. The char fish is an excellent source of food and popular sport fish, gaining in popularity as a flavorful fish like salmon.

Kreide-See is a well known and popular diving lake. In former times chalk was mined here. The roads, the vibrator, trucks, conveyor belts, and some machines that were needed for the mining can still be visited underwater.

At the end of the village from Walchwil, in the direction of Arth, there is a small parking lot. The dive site is accessed via a ladder. The beautiful wall starts just below the ladder.

TODI, The Ultimate Diving Experience, is a gigantic indoor diving pool 10 meters deep and 36 meters in diameter, with more than 6,200,000 liters of water and a consistent temperature of 23°.

Überlingen - Post (★4.3)

The Post in Überlingen is a challenging dive site and therefore not suitable for novice divers. The steep wall with overhang is unfortunately often underestimated by divers and serious diving accidents occur. Diving is only allowed to the left at this site.

The dive site is between Arth and Immensee. There are parking spaces on both sides of the street. At the diving site in Strick, diving is forbidden from October 15 to December 15, as the char spawn during this time.

Meersburg - Krebsgarten (★4.1)

From the parking lot you can reach the entrance via a gravel path. Caution! The stone stairs can be very slippery! The dive site consists mainly of a shallow sloping heap. The course extends from 5 to about 20m. The platform is located in the 5m area to the left of the entrance.

This house reef on the eastern shore of Weissensee is located directly in the Stockenboi lido. The dive site is terraced and falls slightly from the edge of the shore.

Launching is from the steps near the parking lot. The bottom slopes gently down to a depth of around 6m. It then slopes down a little more steeply. A rowboat is located at a depth of around 5m, not in the harbor channel.

In the shallow water area, the dump is nicely overgrown and ideal for beginners and practice dives. Visibility can be between one and 15 meters, depending on the weather and current at the dive site. On the steep wall, the visibility is usually good.
