Spiny Seahorse

Also known as the thorny seahorse, the spiny seahorse is a medium sized marine fish in the seahorse family that can grow between 15-17cm long. They are most well-known for the thorns that cover their entire body from their prehensile tail all the way up to the top of their foreheads. They eat a carnivorous diet consisting mainly of small crustaceans and zooplankton that they suck up into their tiny mouths, and come in a variety of color from grey to bright yellow and green to red.

Zoetersbout is an accessible dive site in the Oosterschelde, there is virtually no current here, but it can be felt at the head of the dike. You dive along an overgrown dike wall with eels, lobsters and galatheak lobsters as permanent residents. Dive between the weeds and discover the underwater life here.

Tufia (Playa de Tufia) located just north of the Airport. A small beach/bay is accessed via a well maintained pedestrian road from the upper car park down to waters edge, this is quite a steep hill on the way back up, it will test your aerobic abilities for sure ;-) Depth ranges from 15-21m, recommend Open water +.

Located near Arinaga, about 20 minutes journey from the centre is the Arinaga Marine Reserve, this location has 4/5 different dive routes, ranging from 10m to 31m, lots of Marine life, small caverns, swim throughs and schoals of fish in abundant supply.

Wainilu, located close to Rinca Island, is a famous dive spot amongst “muck-diving” lovers and photographers. This is a rather shallow dive in dead coral, sand, and rubble, and surprises divers with weird and amazing critters. A great place for macro diving so don’t forget your camera.

Stonehenge (★4.6)

One of the most beautiful dives in Thailand. A dome shaped pinnacle covered in a carpet of soft corals of the most vivid oranges, yellows, blues and purples. From 6m depth at the top of the pinnacle reaching a sandy area from 12-18m. Amazing outcrops of rock on the South Eastern resembling the famous Stonehenge.
