Mullet consists of about 78 species of schooling fish from the Mugilidae family. These silver ray-finned fish abundantly populate all oceans worldwide in coastal temperate and tropical waters. Some species can even inhabit freshwater estuaries and rivers. When diving with mullet, you can distinguish them from other fish species by their two separate dorsal fins, small triangular mouths, and shiny silver scales.
