The SSI Science of Diving program provides an extensive study of physics, physiology, and chemistry and how they affect the human body while scuba diving. This specialty is required training for most SSI Professional programs, as well as some Extended Range programs, and is an essential way to expand your dive knowledge. We offer the Science of Diving completely online for those wishing to learn from the comfort of their own home while on those long surface intervals between dive holidays. With fewer boats around it should give the chance to enjoy the 300-metre-long reef’s colourful pink and red soft coral sheer walls in relative peace and quiet. We’ll then go to Daedalus, arriving before most others, to take in its deep walls and drop-offs which offer some of the most spectacular diving to be found, before heading down to the exceptionally remote, and usually quiet, Rocky and Zabargad Islands where even many Red Sea veterans cannot boast to have dived. Over the next couple of days we will move up through St John’s and Fury Shoals where our guides will find the quietest spots in this vast collection of stunning reef system, which offers some of the most picturesque and rewarding diving in the Red Sea. Fury Shoals also boasts an amazing selection of marine life including super-friendly turtles and a resident pod of spinner dolphins. This will bring us up to day six when, while others cram into local onshore bays, we’ll do a full day and night diving program on some offshore reefs as we travel north. This excursion combines diving with a visit to Ras Mohamed National Park on land.Like the explorers of the Sinai in the 70's, we travel to the dive sites by land, but in a more luxurious way than back then, namely with our air-conditioned minibus.PROGRAM:From our dive center or the hotel we start at 8:00 am and reach our first dive site "Shark Observatory" or "Eel Garden" after about 1 hour driving time. Steep wall or canyon, here the experienced divers can enjoy colorful corals and, depending on the season, very large schools of fish.After the dive, we go on a discovery tour and climb the 60-metre-high viewing platform of the Shark Observatory. From up there, we let our eyes wander over the Gulf of Suez and the Gulf of Aqaba. We are at the southernmost point of the Sinai Peninsula.We then continue by bus past the salt lake to the mangroves and then reach our second dive site, the canyon in Marsa Bareika. A sandy bay with an easy entrance.We set up camp here and enjoy a barbecue prepared by us after the dive and end the day in a relaxed atmosphere.We will be back at the dive center around 17:00.
