The dominating features on this site are a series of long ledges that resemble steps. These steps lead up from a depth of 22metres flattening out at 16 metres. The ledges jutt out, creating deep and narrow crevices in places. Being out in the channel the site can experience strong currents.

Maria’s Grotte (★4.5)

Maria’s Cavern is about 15-20 minutes’ swimming from the center in a westerly direction. On sunny days, divers and snorkelers can enjoy a great light show inside the cave with several tunnels on the way there and back. The maximum depth at this site is around 8-9m.

Abaandance Faru is named after the Maldivian Marine Biologist Mohamed Abaan who instantly fell in love with the biodiversity and treasures which can be found in the several overhangs around this part of the reef. Under 1h from El Gouna to the south you can find the beautiful reef block of Shabha. The top of the reef starts just under the water’s surface and extends all the way to the sandy bottom just 14m deep, making this a shallow dive. To circle the entire reef will take you about 1h. On the east side there are also some pinnacles.
